Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening trophy on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to overcome their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the net in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck twice late to take a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
