Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could help the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners groups.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
